Intellectual Property Matter for Top 10 U.S. Law Firm
American Discovery was retained by a top 10 U.S. law firm handling a large-scale intellectual property case for its client, a global manufacturing company. This was a “bet the company” case against the firm’s client’s main competitor. American Discovery first was retained to review and correct extensive privilege logs prepared by previous counsel. The privilege logs (which covered tens of thousands of pages of material that also had to be reviewed) were several thousand pages long and required substantial revisions. The underlying documents also required a significant number of redactions.
Because the firm was completely satisfied with the work performed by American Discovery on this complicated and time-intensive project, the Company was given several other related assignments for the same case. These assignments included reviewing thousands of pages of additional documents and preparing corresponding privilege logs, as well as reviewing and revising privilege logs prepared by the firm’s staff attorneys after the firm determined that the work performed by American Discovery was superior to the work performed by the firm’s own staff attorneys.
